the taxes levied on used cars is so high, that it is often cheaper for
the owner to buy a new car rather than maintain their old one. Consequently,
the second hand car market in Japan is practically non-existent and
therefore there are many vehicles available for export at very low
prices.
The Japanese people, like the British, love their fast cars. Not only
are the second hand cars available cheaper, but they are often much
higher spec than the UK equivalents - all Japanese imports come with
air conditioning as standard, and many of them come with extra body
kits, dials and leather as well as higher bhp.
It is also common to find that they have much lower mileages than would
be expected. This is due to very high road tolls, charged to reduce
congestion. The cheapest and most popular mode of transport in Japan
